Egypt signs PPAs for 5,620 MW of wind, solar, and battery storage projects with Orascom, Engie, Aleos, and KEMET
Egypt has signed a comprehensive set of power purchase agreements (PPAs) covering 5,620 MW of new renewable energy and battery storage capacity. The agreements include a 900 MW wind project in Ras Shukeir, developed by a consortium of Orascom Construction, Engie, and Aleos (Toyota), with a dedicated PPA signed with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). Additionally, United Egypt Group (KEMET) will develop a 2,000 MW solar plant and a co-located 2,000 MW battery storage facility in Naga Hammadi. KEMET's portfolio under these agreements also encompasses two further solar projects totaling 720 MW (320 MW and 400 MW) planned for El-Oweinat. These PPAs represent a material expansion of Egypt's clean energy infrastructure, integrating substantial wind, solar, and storage assets into the national grid.
