Elgin to develop 47 MW agrivoltaic project with 25 MW BESS in Sicily

Development Solar announced Italy Apr 3, 2026
47 MW
Capacity

Elgin, controlled by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, will develop a 47 MW agrivoltaic project integrated with a 25 MW Battery Energy Storage System in Sicily, with an estimated value of 35 million euros. The project, developed in partnership with Geostudio Group, features a raised module structure and monitoring technologies. This operation strengthens Elgin's presence in Sicilia, following the announcement in December of another 30 MW agrivoltaic project with 30 MW BESS. Elgin aims to develop 3 GW of renewables in Italy by 2030, with this project contributing to that goal. The company had also announced plans for a 130 MW agrivoltaic project on rice fields. The development of this project demonstrates Elgin's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio in Italy, with a focus on innovative agrivoltaic solutions.
