ENERCON and Alterric partner on Bertkow-Baben repowering project in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

Alterric is upgrading the Bertkow-Baben wind farm in Saxony-Anhalt, with Enercon providing new turbines for the repowering project. This initiative, announced on 2024-07-17, sees Alterric replacing existing infrastructure to achieve an 89 MW capacity from the site. The commercial rationale for Alterric involves optimizing its operational portfolio by modernizing an established German location. Enercon secures a turbine supply contract within Germany, aligning with its role as a wind turbine manufacturer. Although the deal value for this repowering remains undisclosed, the focus for both parties is on maximizing output from the Bertkow-Baben site. This 89 MW repowering project expands Alterric's 2.5 GW operational onshore wind portfolio across Germany and France. Alterric, formed in 2022 from the merger of EWE and Aloys Wobben Stiftung's wind business, also manages a 9.4 GW development pipeline, integrating this German asset enhancement. Enercon's turbine supply agreement in Germany builds on its track record, having previously been identified as a supplier in an onshore wind acquisition deal in Türkiye involving Reges Elektrik. EnergieConsult Stendal, a German energy consulting firm based in Stendal, provides advisory services, indicating local expertise for the project's execution in Saxony-Anhalt.
