WPI Repowering GmbH has signed a supply agreement with ENERCON for 14 E-138 EP3 E2 wind energy converters, each with a nominal power of 4.2 MW, for the repowering of the Windpark Ihlow wind farm. This significant investment, in the high two-figure million region, marks a crucial step in the project's realization, aiming to double the wind farm's energy yield from 80,500 MWh to 161,000 MWh annually by replacing 26 older WECs with 14 new ones. The project underscores the strategic importance of repowering existing wind farms for Germany's energy transition, leveraging existing land and infrastructure to accelerate project execution and enhance renewable energy output.
