Eneva sells 100% of Pecém II coal-fired power plant to Diamante Energia for R$ 1 billion
Eneva finalized the sale of 100% of Pecém II Geração de Energia, operator of the 365 MW Porto Pecém coal-fired power plant in Ceará, Brazil, to Diamante Energia for approximately R$ 1 billion. The transaction, approved by Brazil's antitrust regulator Cade in late March 2025, marks Eneva's exit from coal assets as part of its portfolio optimization strategy. Diamante Energia, a Brazilian energy company, acquires a fully operational thermal plant with long-term power purchase agreements in place. The deal underscores Diamante Energia's expansion into thermal generation amid Brazil's energy transition challenges. Regulatory approval followed a standard review process, with no conditions imposed on the transaction.
