Equinix launches MB3 data center in Mumbai with 26.4MW solar PPA
Equinix launched its fourth International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Mumbai, India, named MB3, with a $95 million investment for the first phase. The five-story facility in Chandivali, Powai, supports 1,370 racks initially and up to 5,475 at full build-out, with liquid cooling capabilities. MB3's operations are powered by a 26.4MW solar farm owned by CleanMax, which went online in 2025, marking Equinix's commitment to renewable energy in India. The project is Equinix's fourth in Mumbai and fifth in India, following its 2021 acquisition of GPX Global Systems' two Mumbai data centers for $161 million. Cyrus Adaggra, Equinix's Asia-Pacific president, highlighted the facility's role in supporting India's digital transformation driven by cloud adoption and AI innovation.
