Equinor discovers oil and gas near Troll and Sleipner hubs in North Sea
Equinor has made two commercially viable hydrocarbon discoveries in the North Sea, finding oil in the Troll area (Byrding C) and gas and condensate near the Sleipner hub (Frida Kahlo). The Byrding C discovery, estimated at 4-8 million barrels of recoverable oil, is within production license 090 HS where Equinor holds a 75% stake and INPEX Idemitsu Norge holds 25%. The Frida Kahlo discovery, estimated at 5-9 million barrels of oil equivalent of gas and condensate, is within production license 046 where Equinor holds 58.3%, Orlen Upstream Norway holds 24.4%, and Vår Energi holds 17.2%.

Source Intelligence
The Byrding C discovery is estimated to contain between 4 million and 8 million barrels of recoverable oil. It is within production license 090 HS. The Frida Kahlo discovery is estimated to contain 5 million to 9 million barrels of oil equivalent of gas and condensate. It is within production license 046, known as the Sleipner licence. The Byrding C well was drilled by the COSL Innovator rig in exploration well 35/11-32 S. The four most recent exploration wells in the Sleipner area (Lofn, Langemann, Sissel and Frida Kahlo) have combined estimated resources of 55 million to 140 million barrels of oil equivalent. Equinor plans to drill three additional exploration wells and two new production wells in the Sleipner area this year. Sleipner is a key gas hub processing hydrocarbons from Sigyn, Utgard, Gudrun and Gina Krog, and exporting gas to Europe. Improved subsurface understanding from Ocean Bottom Node seismic, 4D seismic and reprocessing of existing data supported the exploration success.
