Equitix acquires majority stake in Canales Sur wind farm and hybrid renewable energy projects in Spain
Equitix and its partners completed the majority acquisition of the Canales Sur wind farm in Palencia, Spain, a 91-megawatt project with potential expansion to 120 megawatts. The transaction includes under-development solar photovoltaic and battery storage hybridization projects, forming part of a 1-gigawatt pipeline of hybrid renewable energy projects secured under a framework agreement with Capital Energy. The platform has now acquired 50% of the planned installed capacity of the pipeline, marking a material milestone in Equitix’s European hybrid energy systems strategy. Construction is expected to generate over 1,600 direct jobs at peak, with a focus on local workforce and supply chain participation. The project includes a turbine supply and long-term maintenance agreement with Nordex and balance of plant, substation, and evacuation infrastructure contracts with Eiffage.
