FLOWRA and Bureau Veritas Sign Floating Wind MoU
Japan’s Floating Offshore Wind Power Technology Research Association (FLOWRA) and Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on April 1, 2026, to collaborate on the development of floating offshore wind technologies. The agreement focuses on supporting the safe, reliable, and scalable deployment of floating offshore wind, with a specific aim to contribute to the growth of Japan's offshore wind sector. This framework establishes cooperation on safety, certification, and technology development, including aligning international standards and reducing development risks and costs for floating offshore wind projects. This MoU follows a series of cooperation agreements FLOWRA has entered into since its establishment in 2024, including recent collaborations with Lloyd’s Register, the UK’s Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult), the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), DNV, ClassNK, and ABS.
