Fortress Investment Group affiliates lead USD 180 million preferred note financing for Pure Salmon Japan's land-based salmon farming facility
Affiliates of Fortress Investment Group led a preferred note financing of over USD 180 million for Pure Salmon Japan, a portfolio company of 8F Asset Management, to advance construction of its land-based salmon farming facility in Mie Prefecture, Japan. The transaction marks the completion of the project's preferred note financing and supports the development of what will become Japan's largest land-based salmon farm, targeting 10,000 tonnes of annual production. Once operational, the facility will employ advanced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) to produce high-quality Atlantic salmon sustainably, reducing Japan's reliance on imports and strengthening national food security. Fortress Investment Group's involvement underscores its commitment to sustainable food production infrastructure in Japan, where it has previously built leading hospitality, residential, and retail platforms supporting over 20,000 jobs. The financing includes participation from Tor Investment Management, an existing investor in the project, and positions Pure Salmon Japan as a key player in the country's domestic seafood supply chain.
