Fortress Investment Group and affiliates lead preferred note investment of over USD 180 million in Pure Salmon Japan's land-based salmon farming facility
Fortress Investment Group and its affiliates led a preferred note investment of over USD 180 million in Pure Salmon Japan, a land-based salmon farming facility under development in Mie Prefecture, Japan. The investment, which includes participation from existing investor Tor Investment Management, completes the preferred note financing for the project and supports the construction of what will become Japan's largest land-based salmon farm with a target production of 10,000 tonnes. Once operational, the facility will leverage advanced recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology to produce high-quality Atlantic salmon sustainably and locally, addressing Japan's domestic demand and enhancing food security. The project aligns with national policies promoting sustainable aquaculture and reducing reliance on seafood imports. Fortress highlighted its long-standing presence in Japan, including investments in hospitality and retail platforms, and emphasized the strategic importance of this facility for the country's food production infrastructure.
