GameChange Solar to supply Genius Tracker system for 258 MW solar project in Benban, Egypt

GameChange Solar's fourth project in Egypt, the 258 MW Benban Solar Plant, significantly bolsters its regional dominance, elevating its total deployed capacity in the country beyond 3 GW. This supply agreement with Hassan Allam Constructions for the Genius Tracker system, featuring a 1R × 4 string architecture, underscores a preference for proven, high-efficiency tracking technology in large-scale solar developments. The project, developed by Infinity Power, is notable for its integration of 200 MW of solar power with 120 MWh of battery storage, a critical design choice for enhancing grid stability and dispatchability within the Benban complex. This blend of substantial solar generation and integrated storage reflects an evolving commercial logic in utility-scale renewable projects, aiming to maximize energy output and reliability in the Egyptian market. Infinity Power, a joint venture between Masdar and Ignis, is developing the Benban Solar Plant, a move consistent with its ambition to become a major global player in green energy, particularly within the solar sector. Hassan Allam Constructions, an Egyptian group with over 85 years of experience and a workforce exceeding 45,000, serves as the EPC partner, bringing its extensive local infrastructure development capabilities to the 258 MW project. For Boca Raton-based GameChange Solar, this supply agreement for the Genius Tracker system elevates its total installed capacity in the MENA region to an anticipated 6.7 GW, building on its global track record of over 25 GW of systems sold. This 258 MW project in Benban directly supports Egypt's national energy strategy, contributing towards its goal of achieving 42% renewable energy by 2030 and 65% by 2040. The integration of 120 MWh of battery storage within the 200 MW solar power component of the Benban Solar Plant further demonstrates a broader market trend towards hybrid renewable solutions for enhanced grid stability in large-scale deployments.
