The construction project began in late January 2026. Google originally bought 375 acres and later acquired another 165-acre tract for further development at its Midlothian campus. Google launched a Texas cloud region in Dallas in June 2022. Google is also developing a second Texas campus in the Red Oak area of Dallas. In November 2025, Google revealed it would spend $40bn to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure in Texas through 2027, including expansion in Ellis County and new campuses in Armstrong and Haskell Counties.
