H2Pro and Doral Hydrogen partner to develop off-grid solar-to-hydrogen project in Spain

The project is described as the world’s first entirely off-grid solar-to-hydrogen facility designed for gas grid blending. "H2Pro and Doral Hydrogen have signed an agreement to jointly develop a solar-powered hydrogen production project in Extremadura, Spain, marking what the companies describe as the world’s first entirely off-grid solar-to-hydrogen facility designed for gas grid blending." The project will initially deploy a 5 MW Decoupled Water Electrolysis (DWE) electrolyzer connected directly to 10 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity. In a later stage, the project is expected to connect to the planned H2Med Hydrogen Pipeline. The facility will operate fully off-grid and meet the European Union’s Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) requirements.
