Haizea Wind Group and Dajin Heavy Industry supply XXL monopiles for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm

Haizea Wind Group and Dajin Heavy Industry supplied the XXL monopiles, each over 105 m long, 11 m in diameter and weighing more than 2,300 t, for the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm. Hornsea 3, a 2.9 GW project located about 120 km off the Norfolk coast in the UK, will host 197 Siemens Gamesa SG 14‑236 DD turbines. The monopiles were manufactured at Haizea’s Port of Bilbao facility and loaded out with the help of Cadeler and Mammoet. Ørsted, together with Apollo‑managed funds and Mubadala Investment Company, will own the project, which is slated to be operational in 2027. The delivery marks the largest monopiles ever built in Southern Europe and strengthens Haizea’s position as the sole Spanish supplier of such large structures. No financial terms were disclosed, and the contract was announced in August 2026.
