Huawei and Jazz deploy 13MW solar and battery storage systems across 1,000 telecom base stations in Pakistan
Huawei and Jazz, Pakistan’s largest mobile carrier with over 71 million subscribers, finalized a supply agreement in March 2025 to deploy integrated solar power systems across 1,000 telecom base stations nationwide. The project combines Huawei’s solar generation technology with battery storage and energy management systems, delivering a combined capacity of 13MW and generating approximately 11GWh of electricity annually. The deployment is designed to enhance network reliability in areas with unstable power supply while reducing carbon emissions by 15,000 tonnes per year. Jazz, previously known as Mobilink and now a subsidiary of Veon, plans to expand renewable energy use across its network as part of Veon’s 2050 carbon neutrality target. The scalable model is intended to serve as a replicable framework for future expansions in Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure.
