K” Line acquires full ownership of offshore wind support vessel unit KWS
Japanese shipping giant Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line) completed the acquisition of full ownership of its offshore wind support vessel unit K” Line Wind Service (KWS) on 31 March 2026. The transaction involved KWS’s shares previously held by its wholly owned subsidiary Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha, converting KWS from a joint venture into a wholly owned subsidiary. KWS was established in 2021 by “K” Line and Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha to target the expanding offshore wind market, focusing on the operation of work vessels and geotechnical survey vessels. The move aims to accelerate decision-making and enable more integrated business operations as “K” Line seeks to expand KWS’s activities and strengthen its corporate value. Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen will continue supporting KWS’s operations within the group, alongside Offshore Operation Co., a subsidiary specializing in offshore support vessel services across marine resource development, offshore wind, marine surveys, offshore construction, towing, and salvage.
