Capacity

KGAL ESPF 5, a renewable energy fund managed by KGAL, invested in a 17.3MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developed by FENECON in Grevesmühlen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The project features a storage capacity of 48.8MWh and is expected to come online in the short term, enabling more reliable revenue planning compared to projects with longer implementation periods. Hauke Sievers, KGAL's transaction manager, emphasized the central role of battery storage in aligning renewable generation with electricity demand during the energy transition. This investment diversifies the ESPF 5 portfolio, which now includes 20 assets across regions, generation technologies, development phases, and offtake agreements. The BESS deployment supports Germany's grid stability and renewable energy integration goals.
