Kitebrook Infra secures personal investment from William Conway of Carlyle Group to develop 500MW data center campuses in Norway
William Conway Jr., co-founder and co-chairman of Carlyle Group, made a personal investment in Kitebrook Infra to develop three data center campuses in Vestland County, Norway, totaling 500MW of capacity. The flagship 100MW project in Matre, Masfjorden Municipality, will deliver an initial 20MW phase from Q2 2027, with chiller-free cooling powered by local fjord water systems. Kitebrook also plans a 100MW campus in Børdalen, Voss Municipality, energized by Q1 2029, and a 100MW project in Leirdøla, Luster Municipality, with power availability expected from 2028. Byrne Murphy, a real estate developer and long-time co-owner of DigiPlex alongside Conway, co-founded Kitebrook Infra, leveraging their prior Nordic data center experience to address the global AI-enabled site shortage, particularly in regions with 100% sustainable power.
