Montenegrin special-purpose vehicle M Energy d.o.o. signed a grid-connection agreement with CGES, Montenegro's transmission system operator, for a 385 MW solar project—the largest in the country with only 30 MW of installed PV capacity as of 2024. The project targets grid connection by 2027 and will connect to the 400 kV Lastva-Pljevlja overhead transmission line, linking to the HVDC converter station at Lastva and a 600 MW-class subsea cable operational since 2019 that connects Montenegro to Italy. The solar plant will be developed across two sites: Ubli in Cetinje municipality and Bogetići-Broćanac in Nikšić municipality, with a maximum capacity of 385 MW. Montenegro's government launched its first solar auction in 2025, offering up to 250 MW under 12-year contracts-for-difference at €65/MWh, aiming for at least 50% renewable energy share by 2030. The 385 MW project significantly exceeds the next-largest pipeline project, an 87.5 MW solar plant near Vraćenovići contracted in 2024 with a 2028 target commissioning date.
