Microsoft secures 200 MW renewable energy for Indonesian data centers
Microsoft Indonesia has signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT PLN (Persero) to secure 200 MW of renewable energy, including 100 MW of solar power, for its data center infrastructure in Indonesia. This agreement supports Microsoft's investment of US$1.7 billion over four years for new cloud and AI infrastructure in Indonesia, including AI skills training. The renewable energy will power Microsoft's data centers, including the Indonesia Central data center cluster (Azure Region) located in West Java, which features three interconnected availability zones. This move is expected to address infrastructure bottlenecks and support the growth of AI workloads in the region.
