Nasdaq and Adyen purchase CRCF-aligned carbon removal units from Beccs Stockholm project
Nasdaq and financial technology platform Adyen have agreed to purchase carbon removal units from the Beccs Stockholm project, marking the first publicly announced transaction aligned with the new EU CRCF framework. ClimeFi structured this agreement, which involves carbon removal units from Stockholm Exergi's bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BioCCS) facility. The Beccs Stockholm facility, located at Stockholm Exergi's bio-cogeneration plant in Värtan, Stockholm, is planned to be operational in 2028. This facility will capture up to 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year from flue gases, cooling and compressing it into liquid form for permanent storage. This transaction demonstrates European buyers' trust in the Beccs Stockholm project and the CRCF framework for meeting climate ambitions, with ClimeFi monitoring the project's CRCF certification and unit delivery.
