Nebius to construct 310 MW Lappeenranta AI factory in Finland
Nebius, the AI cloud company, agreed to construct the Lappeenranta AI factory, a 310 MW multi-building data center campus in Lappeenranta, Finland, with first capacity expected in 2027. The project will occupy a 100-acre industrial site and create up to 700 construction jobs and 100 permanent positions, alongside hundreds of indirect roles in operations and maintenance. The facility will integrate a closed-loop liquid cooling system with heat recovery to supply excess server heat to the local district heating network, reducing CO₂e emissions by approximately 4,000 tonnes annually and cutting heating costs for households by 10%. Nebius plans to power the AI factory with a predominantly low-carbon energy mix, aligning with its broader target of securing over 3 GW of contracted power globally by 2026. The project follows Nebius's recent expansion of its 75 MW data center in Mäntsälä, Finland, and complements its gigawatt-scale AI factory in Independence, Missouri, and a 240 MW facility near Lille, France.
