French renewable energy IPP Neoen inaugurated its first operational solar project in Italy—a 7.4 MW photovoltaic plant in Arena Po (Pavia), Lombardia—after beginning grid injection in early 2026. The facility, with an annual output of 11.9 GWh, is part of a broader 53 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) signed between Neoen and Equinix in November 2024. The PPA covers multiple projects near Equinix’s data centers in Milan and Genoa, marking their first PPA in Italy and fifth in Europe, totaling 210 MW contracted capacity. Neoen’s total operational or under-construction capacity in Italy now reaches 120 MW, as the company expands its presence with teams in Brescia, Modena, Rome, and Milan. The company is also developing a 2.3 GW pipeline of solar and battery storage projects across the country.
