Neoen and Nidec sign supply and maintenance agreement for Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine battery storage project in France
Neoen announced the construction of the largest battery storage project in France, the Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine Battery with 248 MW and 496 MWh capacity, located in Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine, Seine-et-Marne. The project will be the first in France connected to RTE's 400 kV transmission grid and will provide frequency regulation and voltage services to the Île-de-France grid. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2026 with commercial operation expected in 2028, pending environmental studies. Nidec will supply battery blocks and assemble them at its new production center in La Fouillouse near Saint-Étienne, and will also provide 20-year maintenance services for the BESS. This marks the twelfth battery project Neoen has developed with Nidec since their partnership began.
