NexGen Energy Ltd. receives final federal approval for the Rook I Uranium Project and commences construction
NexGen Energy Ltd. announced on March 5, 2026, that it received final federal approval from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for its 100%-owned Rook I Uranium Project in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin. This approval, following provincial authorization in November 2023, allows NexGen to initiate full construction of the project, which is expected to take four years. The Rook I Project is designed to be the largest single source uranium mine globally, capable of producing up to 30 million pounds annually, representing over 20% of current global uranium fuel supply.
