NextDC secures 250MW data center deals and raises AU$1.5 billion via new shares
Australian data center operator NextDC announced plans to raise approximately AU$1.5 billion (USD 1 billion) through a new share offering and an expanded hybrid securities program to fund 250MW of new contracted data center capacity. The financing will support NextDC's S4 project in Horsley Park, Sydney, which broke ground in March 2026 and will deliver 350MW at full build-out across 124,000 sqm. La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (La Caisse) increased its binding commitment to the delayed draw tranche by AU$700 million, adding to its existing AU$1 billion investment in NextDC's hybrid securities. NextDC's total contracted utilization now stands at 668MW, with a forward order book of 544MW following a 247MW increase since January 2026. The capital raise aims to accelerate S4's development and de-risk NextDC's Western Sydney expansion strategy ahead of potential 2027 partnerships with private capital partners.
