Nscale partners with Fortum for data center development in Harjavalta, Finland
Finnish energy firm Fortum partnered with Nscale to develop a data center in the Sievari industrial area of Harjavalta, Finland. Fortum, acting as the site development partner, had signed a planning reservation agreement with Harjavalta in June 2024 to support marketing, zoning, and grid connection for the potential data center. Nscale is currently negotiating a preliminary land sale with the Town of Harjavalta for the project. The partnership aligns with Fortum's strategy to enable low-carbon growth by providing scalable, sustainable operations in Finland, contributing to electrification and digitalization. Nscale's managing director for Finland and Baltics, Markus Päivinen, highlighted the Nordic market's advantages for sustainable, high-density infrastructure. Harjavalta is located in the Satakunta region, northwest of Helsinki.
