Oak Hill Capital acquires Hunter Communications to expand fiber network in Oregon and Northern California

Oak Hill Capital finalized its acquisition of Hunter Communications, an Oregon-based fiber optic network provider, to accelerate the expansion of high-speed internet infrastructure across Oregon and Northern California. The deal, announced in December 2025 and confirmed on April 2, 2026, positions Oak Hill Capital to inject material capital into Hunter Communications' existing 3,000-plus-mile fiber network, which currently serves approximately 100,000 locations and 35,000 customers. Hunter Communications operates in key communities including Medford, Grants Pass, Klamath Falls, Eugene, Salem, McMinnville, and parts of Northern California, with plans to extend its reach into new markets such as Salem, Eugene, and southern Oregon. The acquisition aims to deliver symmetrical multi-gig services up to 8 Gbps in select markets, addressing growing demand for high-performance connectivity in the Pacific Northwest. Michael Wynschenk, CEO of Hunter Communications, emphasized the importance of fast, reliable, and affordable internet access, stating that the partnership with Oak Hill Capital will enable faster network expansion and improved service delivery.
