OMS Group acquires second Exail DriX O-16 Uncrewed Surface Vessel for subsea survey operations
OMS Group completed the acquisition of a second Exail DriX O-16 Uncrewed Surface Vessel to expand its autonomous survey capabilities for subsea cable infrastructure projects worldwide. The vessel, joining one previously acquired from Exail in 2024, will support seabed surveys, route verification, and monitoring for critical telecommunications cable networks. OMS Group previously committed $300 million in September 2024 to global cable systems and terrestrial infrastructure, with the new vessel designed for long-duration missions of up to 30 days and a 3,500 nautical mile range. The DriX O-16 integrates advanced survey sensors including the Kongsberg EM124 multibeam echo sounder for high-resolution seabed mapping. Ronnie Lim, Group CEO of OMS Group, highlighted the vessel's role in delivering high-quality seabed data with improved safety and operational resilience for offshore missions.
