Pacific Energy to supply electrolysers and undertake FEED for FEnEx CRC’s Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub Stage 2 hydrogen project
Pacific Energy secured a contract with FEnEx CRC to supply two NEL Series 4 C30 electrolysers and lead the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the Hydrogen Process Plant at the Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub (KETH) Stage 2 in Western Australia. The Stage 2 facility will produce 130 kg/day of gaseous hydrogen and 100 kg/day of liquid hydrogen for research, testing, and pilot-scale demonstrations, with construction expected to commence in late 2026 following FEED completion and approvals. Located in the Kwinana Strategic Industrial Area, the project aligns with WA’s Diversify WA strategy and Australia’s Future Made in Australia agenda, supported by a $15 million grant from the WA Government’s Investment Attraction Fund. FEnEx CRC CEO Professor Eric May highlighted the project’s role in creating a real industrial environment for safely testing hydrogen technologies before commercial deployment, while Pacific Energy CEO Mike Hall emphasized the partnership’s contribution to building WA’s clean energy ecosystem and skilled workforce. The Hydrogen Process Plant will be situated adjacent to the Stage 1 R&D building, with the Australian Government supporting FEnEx CRC through the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources’ CRC Program.
