Pantheon Atlas to develop 500MW solar-plus-storage facility for €50B Croatian data centre
Investment group Pantheon Atlas LLC announced plans to construct a €50 billion (US$58.5 billion) AI data centre in Croatia, powered by a 500MW on-site solar plant and a 2GW/8GWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Spanish independent power producer (IPP) Greenvolt has signed a letter of intent to develop the solar and storage facilities as a behind-the-meter project. The data centre campus, dubbed 'Pantheon AI,' will include four 400kV transmission lines to facilitate up to 5.2GW of new renewable energy capacity to the Croatian grid. Construction is expected to begin in 2027 with initial investment of €12 billion, targeting full operation by Q1 2029. The project underscores the growing integration of renewable energy solutions to meet the surging electricity demand of data centres.
