Paraguayan government, ANDE, and Mariscal José Félix Estigarribia municipality sign agreement to develop 10 MW solar plant with battery storage
Paraguay's government, through the Administración Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE), the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (MOPC), and the municipalidad of Mariscal José Félix Estigarribia, signed a framework agreement to develop a 10 MW solar photovoltaic plant with battery storage in the Boquerón department. The project, located on a 20-hectare plot in Pozo Hondo, will be built on land ceded by the municipality to ANDE under a 30-year usufruct agreement. ANDE will oversee the investment, construction, operation, and maintenance of the solar plant and associated electrical infrastructure, including grid connection and transformer upgrades. The MOPC will lead road infrastructure improvements to the project site, while the municipal government will facilitate permits and technical information. The initiative aims to enhance electricity supply reliability in Paraguay's remote Chaco region, where the solar plant will serve as a critical backup to manage photovoltaic generation variability.
