Pattern Energy awards GE Vernova turbine supply contract for 3.5 GW SunZia Wind project in New Mexico
Pattern Energy awarded GE Vernova a turbine supply and long-term services contract for the SunZia Wind development in New Mexico, covering delivery of 674 of GE Vernova's 3.6-154 onshore wind turbines capable of generating more than 2.4 GW of electricity. The SunZia Wind project spans Torrance, Lincoln, and San Miguel counties in New Mexico and will reach total capacity of approximately 3.5 GW when completed, making it the largest wind energy project in the Western Hemisphere. Each turbine produces 3.6 MW of power using a rotor with 154-meter diameter, designed to balance power output with efficient logistics and construction requirements. The order represents the largest single onshore wind turbine contract ever received by GE Vernova in terms of both turbine count and overall generating capacity, solidifying its position in the North American renewable energy market.
