Perigus Energy and PS Renewables secure UK planning approval for 740 MW One Earth solar project with battery storage
Type: Development · Technology: Hybrid · Country: United Kingdom · Capacity: 740 MW · Announced: 2026-07-09
Perigus Energy and PS Renewables received planning approval from the UK Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) for the 740 MW One Earth solar project in England, located on the Nottinghamshire-Lincolnshire border. The hybrid facility will integrate a battery energy storage system (BESS) and connect to the grid via the High Marnham substation, marking a material expansion in the UK's renewable energy capacity. The project was originally developed by Ørsted before its European onshore renewables business was acquired by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in early 2025 and rebranded as Perigus Energy. The Development Consent Order (DCO) application was submitted in February 2025 and received final approval in July 2026 following a recommendation from the UK Planning Inspectorate in April 2026. UK Energy Secretary Ed Miliband emphasized the project's role in enhancing national energy security through large-scale clean energy deployment.
