RCT Hydrogen and Brück form joint venture to launch 250 MW electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Saarbrücken, Germany
RCT Hydrogen, a joint venture majority-owned by the RCT Group (51%) and Chinese manufacturer Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Technology & Equipment Co. Ltd. (49%) via its subsidiary GF Hydrogen Europe GmbH, launched operations at a new 250 MW electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Saarbrücken, Germany. The facility is operated as a joint venture with Brück, a German manufacturer of forged and ring-rolled products for industrial applications, marking a strategic collaboration to localize green hydrogen production. RCT Hydrogen plans to begin assembly of a 5 MW electrolyzer in June 2026, with delivery and commissioning scheduled for later that year at a German industrial site, while additional projects totaling over 30 MW are already in development. The facility will also house a 2.5 MW electrolysis demonstration plant, with hydrogen production intended to replace natural gas used by Brück in high-temperature industrial processes, representing a first step toward decarbonizing steel component manufacturing. Under a 'hydrogen-as-a-service' model, RCT Hydrogen and its partners will build and operate hydrogen production systems directly at customer sites, allowing industrial clients to purchase hydrogen at fixed prices without investing in electrolysis infrastructure, addressing immediate cost and availability bottlenecks in energy-intensive industries.
