RWE receives planning approval for Nordseecluster B offshore wind project
RWE has secured planning approval from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency for Nordseecluster B, the second phase of its 1.6 GW offshore wind development in the German North Sea. This approval allows RWE to commence offshore construction next year for Nordseecluster B, which will add 900 MW of capacity. The first phase, Nordseecluster A (660 MW), is already under construction with turbine installation beginning this summer and full grid connection scheduled for early 2027. Nordseecluster B is expected to begin commercial operations in early 2029, contributing to the overall 6.5 TWh annual generation of the full project. RWE holds a 51% stake in the joint venture with Norges Bank Investment Management (49%), and is responsible for the full lifecycle of the wind farms.
