RWE signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with UK construction materials supplier Breedon Group, committing to deliver approximately 70 GWh of electricity annually from the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm until 2041. The agreement includes an initial supply phase sourced from the 576 MW Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm, located 13 kilometers off the coast of North Wales, before transitioning to the Brechfa Forest West onshore wind farm from 2033. The renewable power will support Breedon's production of aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete, and cement, aligning with its decarbonization strategy to reduce Scope 1, 2, and selected Scope 3 emissions by 23.3% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2050. The PPA forms part of Breedon's broader initiative to decarbonize energy-intensive industrial processes, with the electricity replacing fossil fuel-based power sources. The 160 Siemens Gamesa 3.6 MW turbines at Gwynt y Môr have been operational since 2015, providing a proven renewable energy source for the agreement.
