Sany International partners with Danube Solar Seven SRL to develop 70MW data center and 1.6GW solar-BESS hybrid project in Romania
Singaporean subsidiary Sany International announced plans to fund the construction of a 70MW data center in Timișoara, Romania, through its 'Sany Timis' project. The initiative includes a battery energy storage system (BESS) and two 800MW solar plants to be built in Uivar commune, southwest of Timișoara, totaling 1.6GW of renewable capacity. Sany Group, the Chinese industrial conglomerate parent company, will supply solar panels for the Uivar power plant as part of the €1 billion ($1.17bn) investment. The partnership with Romanian renewable energy developer Danube Solar Seven SRL marks Sany's first major foray into data center development, expanding beyond its traditional heavy equipment manufacturing. The project follows Sany's September 2025 acquisition of a 95MW solar plant in Dobrești, signaling growing ambitions in Romania's energy infrastructure sector.
