Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec ASA has secured a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for a significant 1.95 GW solar and 3.9 GWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project in Egypt. This agreement will facilitate the development of an integrated solar and BESS hybrid project, alongside two standalone BESS facilities, aimed at providing round-the-clock renewable baseload power and grid stability services. The project, representing the largest solar and battery storage installation in Africa and Scatec's biggest investment, will operate under a 25-year, USD-denominated PPA, with Scatec also responsible for EPC, Asset Management, and O&M services.
