Semco Maritime selected as onshore partner for decommissioning of TetraSpar floating wind turbine demo project
Semco Maritime was selected as the onshore partner for the decommissioning of the TetraSpar Demonstrator Project, a floating wind turbine demo project operated offshore Karmøy at the Marine Energy Test Centre. The project, now in its final phase after nearly five years of operation, will be dismantled at Semco Maritime’s Hanøytangen facility in Northern Europe, leveraging the site’s 90-meter quay depths and Northern Europe’s largest dry dock. Semco Maritime will handle the dismantling of the nacelle, rotor, tower, floater, and keel, including material segregation and hazardous substance removal, with documented recycling and material recovery. The decommissioning will provide critical insights into the material condition and performance of Stiesdal Offshore’s TetraSub foundation concept, supporting future industrial floating foundation solutions. The project underscores Semco Maritime’s strategic positioning in advanced offshore operations and circular industrial symbiosis at Hanøytangen.
