Brazil's Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro) is expanding its processing capacity by building two new data centers in Brasília and São Paulo. The Brasília facility will be 12MW and designed to support AI workloads, with an estimated investment of R$3 billion (US$570m) to R$4 billion (US$760m) over 10 years for each data center. Serpro is also negotiating with Telebras to use its data center in the federal capital to create a third sovereign cloud zone, addressing increased demand driven by tax reform and government cloud expansion.
