Siemens Brasil, Cocal, and GIZ study green hydrogen and synthetic fuels production at ethanol plant
Siemens Brasil, Cocal, and GIZ have signed a cooperation agreement to study the technical and economic pre-feasibility of integrating green hydrogen, e-methanol, and SAF production into one of Cocal's ethanol plants in western São Paulo. The research will also analyze renewable electricity supply options, including a photovoltaic plant to power green hydrogen production and other Power-to-X demands. The initiative is part of Germany's International Hydrogen Expansion Program (H2Uppp) and aims to establish a replicable model for industrial decarbonization and develop a sustainable fuel market within a circular economy framework.
