Solaria and Merlin Properties Sign Hybrid Solar-BESS PPA for Second Madrid Data Centre (426 MW Solar, 600 MWh Storage)
Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente has signed its second strategic agreement with Merlin Properties to supply energy to Merlin's data centres in the Community of Madrid. The deal encompasses a 40-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for 426 MW of photovoltaic generation and a 10-year contract for 600 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). This innovative hybrid PPA, a first in the Spanish market, integrates renewable generation and storage to provide firm, flexible, and stable power, addressing the growing electricity demand from digitalisation and AI. Solaria will also develop the associated electrical infrastructure, including access and connection for 213 MW of power, reinforcing its strategy as an integrated energy and digital infrastructure operator.
