Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd secures 1,182 MWdc turnkey EPC contract from Coal India and wins 50 MWdc BOS supply order from leading Indian IPP
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd (SWREL) was declared the L1 bidder for a 1,182 MWdc turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract awarded by Coal India, marking one of the largest single-project commitments in the company's history. Concurrently, SWREL secured a balance-of-system (BOS) supply order for a 50 MWdc solar project from a leading Indian independent power producer (IPP), expanding its footprint in utility-scale solar development. The EPC contract underscores SWREL's dominance in India's renewable energy construction market, where it has commissioned 4.5 GW (AC) of capacity in FY2026 alone, including projects across domestic and international markets. The company's unexecuted order book surged to INR 11,813 crore by March 31, 2026, with order inflows reaching INR 10,062 crore—a 43% year-on-year increase—demonstrating robust demand for its EPC services. SWREL's diversification into wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects is gaining traction, with these verticals expected to contribute significantly to future growth, according to Global CEO Chandra Kishore Thakur. The company's expanded 13.5 GW operations and maintenance (O&M) platform further solidifies its position as a full-stack renewable energy solutions provider.
