Terna awards EPC contract to Prysmian for Tyrrhenian Link East HVDC submarine cable installation

Terna awarded Prysmian a framework contract in 2021 to supply and install the submarine cables for the Tyrrhenian Link East HVDC interconnection. The East branch connects Campania and Sicily, with Prysmian completing the marine works in 12 months using 150 days of naval activity. The project includes 15 km of underground cable in Campania from Torre Tuscia Magazzeno to the Eboli conversion station and 10 km in Sicily from Fiumetorto to the Termini Imerese station. The Tyrrhenian Link is a 3.7 billion euro investment with two 500 kV HVDC links totaling 2,000 km of submarine cables.
