TGS and Green Rebel form campaign partnership for floating LiDAR data collection in German Bight
Norway-headquartered TGS and Green Rebel established a multi-client floating LiDAR and metocean measurement campaign in the German Bight, marking a two-year milestone with over 96% data availability from two deployed buoys. The campaign provides critical wind and metocean data—including wave heights, ocean current profiles, and wake effect measurements—to support offshore wind lease rounds and project development in the region. Green Rebel's floating LiDAR buoys achieved Carbon Trust Floating LiDAR Stage 3 accreditation, ensuring data reliability for technical, commercial, and regulatory applications. The initiative enables multiple developers to subscribe to shared datasets, reducing development costs and timelines while improving energy yield projections. Data is streamed continuously to shore for real-time use in project planning and regulatory processes.
