TGS contracts Tape Ark for 40 petabyte cloud data migration
TGS, a subsurface data and energy intelligence provider, has contracted Tape Ark to migrate approximately 40 petabytes of seismic and subsurface data into a cloud environment. This migration will enable TGS to access its archive on-demand and utilize scalable high-performance computing for imaging and advanced analytics. The project is a key step in modernizing TGS' data and technology platform, enhancing speed, scale, and flexibility for customer access to subsurface data. Tape Ark's ingest platform, which supports parallel, high-throughput processing across multiple facilities, will be used for the migration. While the data will move to a hyperscale cloud platform, the specific provider has not been disclosed.
