UPPERC allows UPPCL to withdraw solar PPA with Vibhuti Infraprojects for legal correction
The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPPERC) dismissed a petition filed by UPPCL concerning a solar energy agreement. The commission permitted UPPCL to withdraw the petition, which was related to a Supplementary Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Vibhuti Infraprojects. The withdrawal was allowed to facilitate legal corrections concerning the signing authority for the agreement. UPPCL intends to rectify these issues and resubmit the PPA for approval.

The withdrawal was allowed to facilitate legal corrections concerning the signing authority for the agreement. UPPCL intends to rectify these issues and resubmit the PPA for approval. The need for this supplementary agreement arose after the solar power business of Technical Associates Limited was demerged. As per an order issued by the National Company Law Tribunal on June 3, 2025, the solar business, including a 2 MW solar project, was transferred to VIPL. The Commission raised an important issue related to the execution of the agreement. It pointed out that the original PPA for the project, signed on August 14, 2010, was executed by Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, which is the concerned distribution company. However, the new Supplementary PPA had been executed by UPPCL instead of MVVNL. The Commission accepted this request and allowed the withdrawal of the petition. As a result, the case was dismissed as withdrawn on March 25, 2026.
