Van Oord and Ecowende deploy silent monopile installation method for Hollandse Kust West wind farm
Van Oord completed the first commercial-scale deployment of a silent monopile installation method at Ecowende’s Hollandse Kust West wind farm off the coast of the Netherlands on April 9, 2026. The installation used GBM Works’ jetting solution combined with CAPE Holland’s vibro lifting tool, reducing underwater noise to minimize marine life disruption. Van Oord’s new offshore wind installation vessel Boreas executed the work, marking a milestone in offshore wind construction. The method addresses regulatory and environmental challenges in offshore wind expansion by eliminating the need for traditional pile-driving. This deployment supports Ecowende’s 1.5 GW Hollandse Kust West project, one of the Netherlands’ largest offshore wind initiatives.
